Biography
Scott was a fixture on Market Square for 15 years. In the summer of 2017, after 19 years working in and volunteering for the massage therapy profession, Scott was diagnosed with a sudden onset of Transverse Myelitis. This diagnosis left him unable to walk, stand, or even roll over in bed. After spending most of his summer at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT, his community rallied around him and gave him the support that he and his family desperately needed. The creation of the StrongHouse Studio is direct result of that support. Scott was able to focus on his family, building physical strength, maintaining emotional stability, and creating a new business model that would ultimately fit his new "normal".
He moved his 15 years private practice from Market Square Wellness in downtown Newington, into a handicap accessible building closer to his home. He began to expand his services to include continuing education and hosting quality educators from all over the country.
In 2019 he reconnected with Suzanne Manafort, of Mindful Yoga Therapy, and he completed his YTT certification with MYT. Suzanne and Scott have collaborated to pass the baton and create the next phase for the yoga community in downtown Newington.
Relaunching the yoga studio as StrongHouse Yoga will provide an opportunity for the Newington yoga community to reconnect after this giant pause the world has taken and he hopes to bring yoga/anatomy/selfcare education opportunities to the studio for the entire community. Scott will continue his work in massage therapy in Southington, both at the table and providing continuing education to the MT community.
